The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has revealed how much the commission spent in the failed recall bid of Senator Dino Melaye.
Yakubu made the disclosure while fielding questions at a press conference in Abuja on Friday.
The INEC boss disclosed that only N100million was spent during the process to recall the lawmaker who represents Kogi West lawmaker Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
Yakubu said the figure was nowhere near the N100bn being bandied by the Peoples Democratic Party.
He said a recall exercise is just like conducting a Senatorial election, adding that Kogi-West which Melaye represents, has 552 polling units and seven local governments.
The chairman further stated that ad-hoc staff were deployed in all the polling units during the process.
